What kind of people live in the Solarpunk world?
Categories of people you will meet in the Solarpunk 25-55 world
People are categorized by how they spend their time.
//‘ you paint? You’re a painter.’ //
Most people identify with one of these categories rather than race, ethnicity, generation, geological origin, etc
Recreationists
people who wish to lounge all day, watch tv, play games, eat snacks, aka consumers. They may make a painting one or twice a year. Some have cult followings because they produce so little their creations are a rarity that increases interest. There is no negative connotation to being a recreationist.
Artisans
they are artists, furniture builders, pottery makers, blacksmiths, welders, woodcarvers, pastry chefs etc. they love what they do and do it often. They may sell their creations at the market (physical or online), or they may not. They are not defined by their ability to sell their work. Only that they produce often. Often is not strictly defined and some artisans can be on the fence of becoming a coach potato.
Servicer
someone who provides a service like plumbing, mechanic, cleaner. Etc. they may do it for money or trade or for free. Most servicers do it because they love it. Some people will service part-time or do gigs only to earn money. It’s uncommon for someone to work full time as a servicer if they don’t enjoy the job. If there’s a lack of human servicers, drone bots will fill roles as needed
Nomads
those who choose to spend their days traveling, moving around the world. There are no borders, no visas, no boundaries. Travel is cheap or free. Finding housing is as easily as reserving your home online. You can only have one home at a time so it means you relish ownership to your previous home. Nomads take advantage of ease of movement, they often form communities online and meet together in person. A band of nomads are common. nomad subtypes are recreationist, hobbyist, artist, or academic. they consider their nomad status as most important to them.

Academics
scientists, historians, etc. all educational institutions are free and accessible to all enabling everyone who wishes to learn to do so. Some choose to study for a long time. Some like to experiment, go on expositions. If it benefits humankind it will be funded. Anything else will need to be self funded (which is relatively cheap and easy to do). Most academics are spending their time and efforts on mankind’s last problem, mortality.
